Mission Statement: (See Web Site For Updated Information)
In 1997 a malaria epidemic broke out among the already endangered Yanomami tribe of the Amazonian rain forest. A missionary's son who had spent his childhood in the area happened to be visiting, and in response to the crisis, founded TOMA (Tribal Outreach Medical Assistance). Within two years the group had established two antimalaria clinics and trained locals to run them. On yearly missions medical volunteers provide basic care, vaccinate children and treat patients for such complaints as tropical parasites and hunting wounds.
